Whole-person care

Small changes can help make a real impact.

What happens between appointments matters. Nutrition, movement, mental health, lifestyle — small, consistent choices can have a positive impact on your reproductive health. We'll help you figure out what that looks like for you.

Our Care Philosophy

A more complete kind of fertility care.

The medical part of fertility care matters. So does everything around it. How you eat, sleep, move, and manage stress all shape your health and your treatment. That’s what whole-person care means at Twig: expert clinical treatment, paired with the support to help you through every part of it.

Whole-person care

What happens between appointments matters. Nutrition, movement, mental health, lifestyle — small, consistent choices can have a positive impact on your reproductive health. We’ll help you figure out what that looks like for you.

  • Nutrition and Diet

What you eat and how you eat impact your overall health and can be important contributors to sperm and egg quality.

  • Vitamins and Supplements

Complement your treatment plan with vitamins and supplements tailored to your medical history and reproductive goals.

  • Lifestyle

Nicotine and cannabis negatively affect fertility. Every step you take towards reducing your use, no matter how small, can positively impact your reproductive health.

  • Mind and body

Fertility is emotional work. Your mental health deserves care of its own. Not as an afterthought, but as part of your plan.

Wellness by Location

Whole-person care, in both cities.

The whole-person philosophy is the same wherever you are treated. Here is how wellness support works at each location today.

Common Questions

Learn more about wellness support.

Yes, more than many people expect. Nutrition, sleep, stress, movement, and exposures like nicotine and alcohol all influence egg and sperm quality. Because eggs and sperm develop over about three months, the ideal time to make changes is roughly three months before treatment. Starting earlier is even better, and it is never too late.

Many patients find acupuncture supportive during treatment, and it is one of the services offered through Flourish x Twig. If you are interested in including acupuncture in your care, we encourage you to speak directly with an experienced fertility acupuncture provider about how it can fit into your treatment plans.

Our whole-person philosophy applies at every Twig location. Our in-house wellness services, including Flourish × Twig, are currently based in our Toronto clinics. For Vancouver patients, we help connect you with trusted wellness practitioners in the city. Ask your care team to learn more.

Many wellness and complementary services, like naturopathy, acupuncture, massage, and counselling, are eligible for insurance reimbursement or health spending accounts, depending on your plan. Through Flourish x Twig, direct billing is available wherever possible. Check your specific coverage with your provider.

We recommend that anyone planning to conceive take a prenatal vitamin including folic acid to minimize the risk of birth defects, including spina bifida. Vitamin D is also recommended for everyone on a fertility journey. CoQ10 and other antioxidants may have beneficial impacts on sperm and egg quality. For those who want a more curated vitamin and supplement plan, we recommend booking a consult with an experienced fertility naturopath.

The evidence on diet is limited, but a Mediterranean-style way of eating, rich in vegetables, fruit, whole grains, legumes, healthy fats like olive oil and nuts, and fish, may support fertility and overall health. Steady, sustainable changes matter more than a perfect diet. Moderate caffeine, about one to two cups of coffee a day, is fine, while excessive intake is not recommended. Because eggs and sperm develop over about three months, starting a season before treatment gives changes time to show up.

Fertility is emotional work. Stress on its own does not cause infertility, but your mental health deserves care of its own, and feeling supported helps you stay resilient through treatment. Twig offers reproductive counselling and emotional support as part of your fertility care, not separate from it.

Yes. Every Twig patient in Toronto is welcomed with a complimentary Discovery Appointment with the Flourish × Twig team. From there, services like naturopathy, acupuncture, nutrition, physiotherapy, massage, and counselling are available.
